Why I Started Butterè Skin

I didn’t set out to create a skincare brand. I set out to solve a problem I knew too well—angry, reactive skin that didn’t feel like mine. For years I dealt with dermatitis flare-ups, dryness, and sensitivity. Shopping for moisturizers was a gamble: the textures looked gorgeous, the promises sounded magical, and yet so many formulas burned, broke me out, or did absolutely nothing.

So I did what countless women do when the market doesn’t meet their needs: I researched, learned, mixed, failed, tried again—and kept going until my skin finally exhaled.

Butterè Skin is the result of that journey.

The Moment It Clicked

There was a night when my hands were cracked and stinging from yet another “sensitive” cream that wasn’t. I stood in my kitchen with a small scale, a stack of notes, and a stubborn hope. I blended shea, mango, and avocado butters with light, non-comedogenic oils. I added soothing allies—aloe, panthenol, colloidal oatmeal—then adjusted until the texture felt like a hug instead of a coat. The next morning, my skin looked calmer. It felt soft. It didn’t itch.

That tiny win lit the path. If I could make this for me, I could make it for anyone who needed gentleness without compromise.

What Butterè Means to Me

Butterè is more than buttery textures. It’s a standard:

My Formulating Philosophy

I’m not a chemist by degree; I’m a woman who studied, tested, and partnered with experts to build formulas that respect the skin barrier.

💛 Barrier first. We choose butters and oils known for replenishing lipids—shea for deep comfort, mango for a soft, non-greasy finish, avocado for plush glide, hemp and camellia seed for lightweight balance.
💛 Soothers, always. Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), aloe, and colloidal oatmeal help calm the look of irritation and support a happy moisture barrier.
💛 Thoughtful texture. Cetyl alcohol and natural starches give a velvety, quick-absorbing feel—so your butter melts in and gets to work.
💛 Clear standards. We avoid heavy fragrances in our most sensitive formulas, choose gentle preservatives for safety, and keep our labels clean and readable.

I’ve also developed nut-free options and men’s care variations because sensitivity doesn’t look the same on every skin—or every shelf.

From “Good Enough” to “This Is It”

In the early days, I kept a “skin diary” and a “why it works” sheet for every batch. If a product didn’t pass my real-life tests—post-shower, post-shave, mid-winter, under long sleeves—it didn’t make the cut. Over time, patterns emerged:

I hear from moms who want simple routines, men who want clean, dignified scents without the burn, and people managing eczema-prone skin who need moisture that lasts. You’re the reason I’m so picky.

As I mixed and matched textures, I found myself writing little notes in the margins—reminders to care for myself, to keep promises to my skin. That’s how the Sincerely collections were born:

What I Believe (and What I Don’t)

My promise is simple: if it doesn’t meet my standards for sensitive skin and a genuinely elevated experience, it won’t carry the Butterè name.

Where We’re Headed

We’re expanding carefully—adding body washes that play well with compromised barriers, exploring brightening options that stay gentle, and creating seasonal scents that never overpower. Sustainability matters to me, too; while glass is gorgeous, accessibility matters more, so we’re always balancing durability, cost, and eco-sense as we grow.

Most importantly, we’re building community—listening to your skin stories, your wins, and your “almosts.” Butterè Skin started with my pain point but it continues with our shared progress.
